Matthew J’s Model Railway

One of my interests is Model Railroading.  At the moment, unfortunately, I am restricted to running my railway on my Computer via CADRail, a piece of Computer Aided Design Software specifically for use in designing Model Railways, and Trainz, a Train Simulator.  Still, this gives me plenty of time to design the “perfect” railroad.  My best effort to-date can be seen below.

I plan to combine my love of Computers with my Model Railroading by using DCC, or Digital Command Control.  At the moment I favour the system from Lenz GmbH, along with decoders from SoundTraxx and accessories from Real Rail Effects.  In addition, I intend to use WinDigital as my Control Software.

My railway will be a “self-created” Alps-style layout, done in a Winter and Snow motif.  The theme of the layout will be “Famous Trains Throughout History”, and will feature such modern examples as the Japanese Shinkansen (or Bullet) Train, the German ICE and ICT, the French TGV, the Eurostar, the Swiss/Italian CISALPINO, and the Australian Indian-Pacific.  Also included will be some famous trains from the past, including the Orient Express and the Flying Scotsman.  I even plan to run George Stephenson’s 1829 Rocket, the most famous Steam Train ever.
